Biography: Dr. Seth is a Professor of Laboratory Medicine at the University of Toronto, a Senior Scientist at Sunnybrook Research Institute, and is director of, the Sunnybrook Genomics Facility. Within this state-of-the-art facility, cutting-edge molecular/genomics analyses and research are conducted employing next-generation technologies.
As scientific director of the Molecular Diagnostics laboratory he provides invaluable molecular diagnostic tests to support various departments of the hospital. Dr. Seth’s extensive research endeavors is centered on understanding the intricate molecular mechanisms underlying cancer development and metastasis.
Among his notable ongoing projects is the exploration of microRNA signatures as predictive tumor biomarkers for prostate cancer recurrence and metastasis. He is also involved in characterizing markers that indicate responses to therapy in endometrial cancer and investigating pre-operative MRI signals and mutations in colorectal cancer liver metastases.
He provides collaborative and consultative support for pathologists, oncologists, and surgeons and maintains national and international research programs with other scientists.
